Wow! Wow! Wow! and Thank you! Customer Service at its best. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect the service I received this last week.

I was so surprised to find Jack at my door on Monday morning. But, even more surprised to find that he replaced those plants that had not survived or done well. Completed within 2 days.

I can't say enough about how good our experience has been with Hansen. From the very beginning of the process, Steve listened to us and made great suggestions on how to get what we wanted. We had our entire landscaping redone. Steve designed our front, back, and side yards through a process where there was constant and clear communication. He was clear on what he could deliver for the budget we had and boy did he deliver. When it came time to execute the design, his team of workers came on time every day, worked the entire time, and cleaned up everything at the end of the day. They were professional, kind, polite, talented, hard working, and friendly. They finished everything under the estimated time given to us. That has never happened with any contractor we have ever hired to do any project at our house. They came back to inspect the work and to replace any plants that died due to the heat wave we had the day after they planted. They have followed up and went above and beyond the design and our expectations by putting in extra drains from our gutter spouts to protect a path from washing away on the side of our house when it does finally rain. That wasn't even in the contract and they didn't charge us any extra money to do it!

They may not be your least expensive option. I do have to say that you get what you pay for. I don't regret spending what we spent with Hansen and I have no regrets in hiring them for this job. The transformation was nothing short of miraculous. We feel like we have our own private park now. Thank you Steve and crew! We love the landscaping you created for us.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for following up! We spent the weekend spreading bark and lodi pebbles - but we are making headway and can't wait to really see the "finished" product. We also have a follow-up walk-through with Jack on Friday at some point. Artemio was superb and helpful all the way through - he did a great job building the path to the shed, and he got really creative and helped fix the waterfall feature at the very end of the job, which we really appreciated.

We are really happy with the project - the new sitting area in particular up on the slope is already a huge favorite. The design itself is fantastic and in almost every way exactly what we were expecting and hoping for. One small thing (that we've talked about with Jack) is that it seemed in the end there just weren't enough plants for our large space! He ended up pulling a lot of plants forward from the area on the left "business" side of the yard where the big maple is so that meant a big space in and around the maple with no plants. We are researching (Jack gave me some tips) on some additional plants to buy and get in there before we cover it with pebbles, and Artemio left instructions on how to connect them up to the irrigation system. Our reflection was that it would have been nice to have a little more plant coverage within the contract for the number of plants needed so we weren't sort of catching up now.

Overall we are delighted and looking forward to the walkthrough with Jack to learn the names of everything and get any final tips for care. We will definitely send you some pictures when we finish the pebbles and bark; I'm attaching a few for now.

He was very knowledgeable and offered many options for me to choose from, listening closely to my preferences while adding his own expertise in design decisions. He originally gave a timeframe of several months before his team might be available, but was able to start the project much earlier than he predicted. The whole team worked fast and professionally. I was surprised at how quickly everything was completed. Thank you to Jack, the project manager, who updated me about the progress along the way, and to Jaime and the crew who worked so hard and so efficiently all day.

I felt great trust and respect with Hansen at every step. Steve delivered exactly what he said and more than I expected. After the team was done, he followed up to ask if I had any things I might change or want differently about the design, and offered to do more work on the yard beyond what I had paid/contracted for.

I could write volumes about this experience! I don't think it's possible to be happier. Every single step from my first contact with you to this point has been perfect. I love that you're a family business, and it feels like a family through each member of your crew. Starting from my first visit to the showyard, I knew you were the one.

Paul listened to the things I liked, was so patient explaining how things would work, and somehow took all of the things I liked and worked them into a cohesive plan. Since getting the drawings, they have been on my dinner table serving as a kind of dream board. Once your crew started, I would come home from work and get really happy seeing what was done, then go to the plans to see how it would look. I never could have imagined such a beautiful space - it would have been random stuff that doesn't go together. He is SO creative and saw things that I didn't even know were possibilities.

Jack has been phenomenal. Communication has been next level impressive. He lets me know every week when the crew will be here and what will be done. He stops by to check on things on his way home (his parking of the Hansen truck in the neighborhood is what brought me to you first... there was never a need for a second). He is so incredibly nice and offers a seamless client interface.

Greg has been an awesome point person. Every single person that has shown up has been knowledgable, polite, and professional. I can't believe all they do! If I even attempted a few hours working like that it would take me a month to recover! He's been helpful ANY time I have a question. I don't like hovering now that school's out, but you can tell the crew genuinely likes working together which speaks well of your business. Everyone at every single point has exceeded expectations.

I know I'm missing some people (even Ken dropped by the weekend after pouring concrete just to be sure it was setting correctly), but I must mention the Rock Whisperer, Artemio. That guy is amazing! It's an honor to have his craftsmanship in my yard, and I'll never forget the way he put that waterfall together. I did not want to interfere with his process, but it was like someone just gave him a bunch of rocks and let him do his thing. I did find myself drawn to the window because his work was so fascinating. If a rock wasn't the perfect one for a certain spot, he would go back and find the one that was. I'm really happy I got to see that, and seeing the water flow for the first time made me gasp with happiness!

Jack stopped by again today letting me know about the plants coming tomorrow - I'm so excited! He even took the time to go over questions I had about shade structures. I know that's not a typical thing to do, but those kinds of things make me feel so fortunate. My friend from Boston came out for my mom's celebration of life and we spent a LOT of time enjoying the backyard with the beautiful waterfall. It's a whole different vibe and gives me this Zen oasis... at my house! How lucky is that?!

Sorry for the novel (!), but lastly I would like to say how much I appreciate the lack of judgement about the yard before you started working your magic. I don't know if you saw my yard, but it was easily the worst on the block and embarrassing. I never felt judged. I tried weed whacking the weed forest and didn't make a lot of progress over a couple of weeks. It was gone in a day once you guys got here. I don't know how to do what you do at even a basic level. To see what you have done is miraculous. You have a stellar business. Everyone shows pride in their work, and your team has brought me a high level of happiness. You've exceeded expectations on all fronts and are WELL worth the wait!

Hello Mr. Hansen (Steve)

I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know how happy and satisfied we are with our landscaping project.

Working with Louis on the design was great. We asked him to think about a vision for our house and he took our thoughts and ideas and incorporated them into a spectacular vision for the backyard. Unfortunately, we were not able to do everything, but he worked with us on a revised vision. Louis really heard what was important to us and made the revisions based on that. He also included some options that we could add to the project like the turf, which we did add. Once the project was getting ready to begin, we began to work with Jack. Jack was an awesome project manager. He reached out to us and met with us to walk through the project and schedule. He worked with us on the selection of plants and kept in mind what I was looking for in generating the plant list.

Ken and his concrete team were wonderful. Every step of the way they let us know what was happening. They also verified with us the layout of the concrete before the pour. They wanted to be sure that we knew what was happening and recommended changes that they thought were appropriate and would work with the layout of our yard.

Once the project did start, Jack kept us informed of what would be happening along each step. He also was very responsive if we had a question or concern during the process. He would call us or text us back right away or come by if I had a question about laying something out. He let us know if the crew would not be working our job and when they would be back. The whole team from Greg, who is super, on down were really impressive to work with. They were always polite and wanted to make sure that we were happy with the work being done. It really was a pleasure to have them working on the project. They asked questions, had us check the work, let us know when they would be here and what they would be working on the next day. It was nice not to have to guess about what was happening on the job.

I also would like to comment on the work itself. Everything was done to the highest level of craftsmanship. I don’t have any complaints about how the work was done or how it looks on completion. I feel like we are now one of the nicest looking homes on our street. We continue to get so many compliments. Our neighbors also love our backyard and we had a huge discussion about how much they loved the new concrete and its look. We are so excited and can’t wait to have friends and family over so that they are able to enjoy it with us.

What I really would like to emphasize is that from the concrete work through the wrap up of the project every person working on the project made sure that we were happy with the layout before it was finalized. Your team, from design to installation was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend your company and services to all of my friends and family.

Now, about your employees… Paul and Jack did a fantastic job of guiding us through, giving us good ideas including ways to improve our own and plant suggestions. I hope not to get Paul in trouble for this detail but it was a game changer. Ron was a definite “no” about investing in synthetic lawn because of the cost and “artificial” perception. Paul invited us to come by his house to view his front lawn on a larger scale in a typical yard. Best advertisement ever. We love it and so do our dogs!

Your crews… these were the hardest working guys we’ve ever seen. The work was physically grueling, especially in the backyard where we had most of the 24 year-old existing shrubs and hedges removed. They gave it their all every day. Raoul and Hugo were also very helpful with esthetic and functional suggestions/details. They were a great group to work with!

Look forward to watching the plants mature, low-maintenance, year-round green lawn, and just enjoying our backyard especially!

Steve Hansen interpreted my design ideas while gently suggesting experienced input.

Detailed proposals followed until our designs and financials were agreed upon.

The Hansen crew removed existing turf and trees in a timely manner. New construction began to take shape as forms were laid for concrete, plant mounds, artificial turf, up/down lighting, drip irrigation, Lodi rock and mulch beds transformed our front yard. Drought resistant/deer resistant plants were artfully placed in the ground. Overlay on concrete surfaces of the sidewalks and driveway offer so much personality. Shrubs remaining at the fence were expertly trimmed and manicured.

It deserves noting that The Hansen Crew cleaned up at the end of every day. Will we recommend Hansen Landscape? YES, and we have shared their contact info to several neighbors.

Will we call Steve Hansen in the future? YES – we have a tired backyard that the moles and voles have destroyed.

Thank-you for asking Steve. Yes, I am pleased with the finished result.

The landscapers were really nice and helpful. They put the plants and boulders where I wanted them and are very patient with me.

Greg replaced all the planter bed sprinklers and some valves so all would be new and not leaking. He even checked out my backyard sprinklers to be sure they were functioning and spraying water in the proper direction.

Everything was cleaned up before they left.

I am going to give the plants some time to mature and then reassess the area to see if I want to add anything else. But so far, I love the positioning of the boulders. I’m anxious to see all the colors blending together and how the area looks when the empty spaces get filled in with the maturing plants.

I just want to thank you again for the great coleus plants you obtained for us last May. We just took them out of our front pathway this past Tuesday. There is no doubt this was our best crop yet. Yes, the bar looks great and we're very happy with the entire project!

In fact, there are a couple of things we didn't do, that we're now considering. One is the kind of minimal erosion control on the other side of our house. The other is cutting out one or two parking spots at the bottom of the property. If you all are interested in these two additional pieces of work, maybe we could get an updated quote.

Yes, Mr. Hansen, I was very happy with the work your gardeners did. They arrived on time, worked hard, and were finished in an hour and a half. I had laid out my plants where I thought they should go, but explained that I was open to suggestions as I valued their knowledge and experience. As it turned out, Manu advised that a few plants were placed too close together and made suggestions that I am grateful for. I also appreciated that he gave me instructions for watering the plants and feeding them. If I could, I would give them a five star rating!

Thank you for following up with us. Paul was great and we are more than happy with the design that he came up with. He also worked with us to get the project within our budget. $20,000 was our hard limit and Paul was able to quote us something right below that. Unfortunately, over the Christmas break, we discovered that our electrical panel and wiring are in major need of replacing. We spoke with an electrician and were quoted roughly $7000 to rewire the house and replace/upgrade our panel. That cost really eats into our budget that we made available for our yard. We have to prioritize the electrical work over the backyard renovations and put it on hold until we can comfortably afford it again. Your staff was nothing but helpful and accomodating and we are upset that we can't move forward at this time. We told Paul that we would love to keep the design and reach out again when we can meet that cost. We will send out a check for the design as soon as possible.

Paul was great; he submitted the proposal promptly and did his follow-up. My last communication with him was that we were still waiting to hear back from the HOA.

We had three landscape companies come by to give us a quote; one said the project was too big, so they declined. The other sends out a young man that did not know much about landscaping. Paul was knowledgeable and a true professional; we were very impressed.

Your quote was a bid higher than our budget, but I am a true believer that you get what you paid for. I will get back to you.
