Like the movie Field of Dreams”, “build it and they will come” says Steve Hansen owner of Hansen Landscape speaking as a landscape designer that a yard if designed properly, is so much more than just patio, plants and grass. It is a family area that encourages quality time with family and friends to enjoy each others company and slow down and relax a little. Your yard should be an extension of your home, says Steve.

As a kid, growing up in the East Bay, Steve Hansen took care of the family home gardening. At 13 years old, he installed a waterfeature in his back yard, complete with a pump and water plants. These early experiences instilled a love of the landscape and gardening industry that still shines through Steve’s work today.

After graduating from high school and getting married to his high school sweetheart Sabina, followed by having a baby, Steve was laid off from a construction job. “This seemed like a right time to start my own business where I could do the type of work I really enjoyed and be in charge of my own future”. Steve and Sabina started performing gardening services, literally taking their baby in a basinet to those early projects doing odd jobs such as mowing, weed pulling and hauling. At some point, we where asked to plant a tree for someone and we kind of started the landscape business from there. Later securing a landscape contractors license and hiring their first employee “Manu” (who is still working with us after 28 years!).

Today, Hansen Landscape provides consultation, design services and complete top quality installation services. The company has been awarded several Bay Area landscape awards and featured in local newspapers and national landscape magazines. Steve has also served as a judge of the landscape exhibits at the Alameda County Fair.

The company prides itself on extreme customer satisfaction, returning to many jobsites to check on things several years after actual completion. “We don’t hire day laborers and all our crew speaks English” “Our dedicated project manager, Jack Forshaw will return your phone calls and emails in a timely fashion to answer all your questions and handle any concerns” guarantees Steve.
